Approved projects from the "Civil Security - Corona Pandemic" funding measure
Scientific knowledge can help to successfully manage crises and prepare for future challenges. In the Corona pandemic, experience is being gained in a wide variety of areas from which new knowledge can be generated. This is especially true for core topics of civil security from pandemic management to security of supply and risk communication to simulation of pandemic spread.
Ongoing joint projects:
AScore: Cockpit for regional pandemic management with agent-based social simulation
Funding code 13N15663
The aim of the AScore project is to create a simulation-based management system that supports municipalities in managing complex crisis situations, using the Corona pandemic as an example. By using intelligent simulation and evaluation routines, effects of decisions as well as potential crisis courses in a pandemic situation are shown and visualized.

CovidSim: Modeling and simulation of covid infection spread in crowds in system-relevant infrastructures
Funding code 13N15662
In order to create very detailed images of reality on the computer, researchers use so-called microscopic computer simulations. They can also be used to precisely recreate and study local infection events during a pandemic. In the CovidSim project, Munich University of Applied Sciences is therefore extending its "Vadere" simulation tool, which has so far been used to study local movements of people, to include an infection model. The spread of an infection can then be studied using various simulated situations from everyday life in which a high risk of infection is expected.

LaBeCo: Psychosocial picture of the population during the Corona pandemic
Funding code 13N15670
The LaBeCo project aims to record how people perceive the Corona pandemic and how they deal with it. To this end, a systematic evaluation of social science studies on the Corona crisis will be conducted. The focus will be on the concrete effects of the pandemic on personal and social life. This includes aspects such as risk perception, fears, coping strategies, evaluation of political crisis communication and confidence-building measures.

RESPAN: Analysis of the realization and effectiveness of operational pandemic planning against the background of the Corona Crisis
Funding code 13N15674
The aim of the RESPAN project is to evaluate existing pandemic plans, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises and operators of critical infrastructures, with regard to their effectiveness in the Corona crisis. For this purpose, about 150 decision makers in companies will be interviewed about implementation problems, knowledge gaps as well as gained experiences in the pandemic. By analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, successes, deficits and potential for improvement in emergency and pandemic planning will be made visible.
